It’s a 70 minute magic show in one of the most beautiful suites in one of the most elegant hotels in Edinburgh, from a world class magician.
Primarily it’s an entertainment show. Kevin recreates magic tricks (with his own twist) that have fooled some of the greatest and most creative minds ever associated with the city of Edinburgh. Experience the magic trick that fooled Houdini, King Charles, Harry Potter author JK Rowling and more. Will they fool you?
The suite is fully accessible. More information here.
Simples. Firstly find a date that works for you here and get your tickets. On the day, turn up 10-30 mins before the show starts at the Caledonian Hotel and make your way to the Versailles Suite on the entresol level (one flight up from ground).Your hostess Sarah will meet you there, welcome you and check your tickets in our adjoining suite (The Triannon) – where you can grab your Prosecco (if you purchased a first or second row seat). The doors to the ‘theatre’ suite open about 5 minutes before the show starts.
Yes. It’s very good. The sleight of hand is phenomenal, the presentations are intriguing and funny and Kevin is a consummate showman – with tens of thousands of hours under his belt. He’s performed in person for the likes of King Charles, Richard Branson, Sir Paul McCartney and regularly tours his stage shows all over the world. He’s also worked in the dingiest comedy club basements in the world. He’s got his chops with nearly 20 years in the business, and it shows in his presentations. Our audiences are typically 50% Edinburgh (ish) and 50% Visitors to Edinburgh. Locals love it for date nights, family treats, an unusual night out with pals. Some will gift tickets for Christmas, birthdays and other special occasions. It’s a real night out! Edinburgh Magic is truly a unique experience in the city – a welcome change to your standard night out!
Visitors love the magic of course but also the storytelling. You get to connect with historical figures through a shared sense of wonder – something that I don’t think has been done before.
12+ is the guideline but it’s a grown up vibe and a show written for grown ups. Younger members of the audience who are used to behaving in a theatre will also enjoy it. Generally younger members of the audience will appear at the early evening show (6pm) and the later show (8.30pm) is usually all adults.
Kevin and Sarah both wear elegant evening attire. And that’s what we encourage. We think that the show is better when the audience dress up! So please go for it. Some don’t, of course, but it’s genuinely better if you do!
Oh, lots! We don’t want to spoil the surprise but stuff will float before your eyes, objects will disappear and appear in the most unlikely of places, minds will be read.
It’s luxurious. One of the big two famous Edinburgh Hotels. Everyone from Taylor Swift (in her recent Eras tour) to Nelson Mandela have stayed here. Who knows, if you come for the show, you may end up rubbing shoulders with someone off the telly! There are Michelin Star restaurants and elegant high ceiling high tea rooms. We recommend booking in at one of the two hotel restaurants in advance of the show. Definitely worth exploring before or after the show! There’s a bit more about the hotel here.
Absolutely. The show is suitable for audiences up to 80 in a hotel suite or large room in theatre layout. Larger audiences will require staging, sound and other AV equipment to ensure quality of performance. Kevin has performed this show all over the world. People who have seen Kevin perform in Edinburgh have invited him to USA, Europe and Australia since he started performing the show in 2022. Kevin also has various other entertainment products – from giant spectacles (like his famed flaming cannonballs routine) to after dinner presentations at conferences and balls. Kevin will make himself available for photos and handshakes at the end of every performance.
There’s a wee bit of audience participation, but it’s very good natured and in a room with only 30 people feels really nice.
